25-30Day 1: Kolkata
Welcome to Kolkata! Famously known as The City of Joy, is in every sense, the artistic, cultural and intellectual capital of the country.
On arrival check into hotel and relax.
At afternoon explore the classic colonial architecture. See Raj Bhavan, the large British styled mansion, then see High Court, oldest in the country and designed in neo-gothic style.
The Writer’s Building dates back to 1776, GPO and St John’s Church are other notable buildings.
At the end visit Tagore house, where the first Non-European Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore born, and where he spent most of his life and then left for his heavenly abode.
Day 2: Kolkata
Kolkata has more to offer than one can expect.
Today visit Victoria Memorial, a relic of the British Raj in India and an iconic structure and is surrounded by a lush green andwell-maintained garden.
Then visit St. Paul’s Cathedral, a very fine example of Indo-Gothic style of architecture.
Later visit Kalighati Temple, a 200 year old temple and one of the 51 Shakti Sthals of India.
Then see the wonderful architecture of Jain Temple at temple complex and consists of intricately carved marbles and glass work.
At the end of the day visit Prinscep ghat located on the banks of River Hooghly, is a majestic structure famous for its Greek/ Gothic inlays with the magnificent Howrah Bridge in the background.
Enjoy shopping at New Market and buy souvenirs for your loved ones at evening.
Day 3: Kolkata
Today after breakfast, visit Belur Math. It is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. Founded by Swami Vivekananda, the temple is known for its distinctive architecture, which fuses Hindu, Christian and Islamic motifs as a symbol of unity of all religions.
Then advance to visit Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, founded by Rani Rashmoni in 1855 and built in conventional Nav Ratna style is an architectural treasure.
Later in the afternoon Proceed to Eco Park and spend your leisure time.
The beautiful and well-maintained landscape is a perfect retreat for nature lovers
Day 4: Kolkata – Ganga Sagar – Kolkata
Start early morning journey towards Ganga Sagar.
Take a ferry for island from Harwood ferry point and on arrival start advancing directly to the confluence of river Ganges with Bay of Bengal.
After taking holy dip at waters offer prayers at Kamil Muni Temple.
Then return to Kachuberia ferry point to return to Kolkata.
Day 5: Kolkata
It’s time to proceed for your return journey.
